Wesley Mission Queensland’s 2019 Trek to Connect endurance challenge offers 25 teams of four people the unique opportunity to trek 42 kilometres from Lake Manchester to Enoggera, while creating awareness of local suicide prevention programs and raising money to help save further lives.

Wesley Mission Queensland’s Suicide Prevention Manager, Glen Wallwork, said suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians between the ages of 15 and 44.

“Everyone knows someone who has been touched by the effects of suicide. In 2017 there was 804 suicides in the state of Queensland, that’s 15 Queenslanders lost to suicide each week,” he said.

“Suicide is a very complex issue, and it requires a whole-of-community approach. With this in mind, we work not only with those at-risk of suicide, but everyone around them – their families, friends, networks, and local community groups to build skills, knowledge, resources, and the capacity to tackle this issue.”

In the spirit of community we encourage you to get your team together and sign up now for this life-changing opportunity, visit www.trektoconnect.org.au to register.
